Rui Posto (Rohu fish in a blend of Poppy seed paste)
Ingredients:
Rui(
Rohu fish): 500 gms
Mustard
oil: half cup
Onion
seeds ( Kalonji):half teaspoon
Posto(
Poppy seed paste): 1 large cup
Green
chili paste: 1 tablespoon
Red
onions: 1 large length wise cut
Cumin
powder: 1 teaspoon
Turmeric
powder: 2 teaspoons
Red
Chili powder: 1 teaspoon
Salt to
tast
Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:

Marinate the fish with salt and
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
·
Heat half cup of mustard oil
and fry the marinated fish pieces in hot oil till golden brown. Leave them
aside.

In the same oil sprinkle onion
seeds (Kalonji) and let it splutter. Add the cut onions and fry till golden
brown.

Now add the chili paste and
ground spices and keep stirring till oil separates.
·
Add posto paste and little
water and keep cooking for another 1 minute. Add salt.
·
Let the think gravy boil once,
now add the fried fish and let it boil in the gravy for another 1 minute in low
heat.
·
Remove from heat. Pour into hot
gravy 1 teaspoon of fresh mustard oil all over. Garnish it freshly chopped
coriander leaves and slits of green chilies.
The
fresh mustard oil poured into the gravy after cooking will enhance the flavor
of the posto gravy giving it an exotic taste.
